Three best friends get through some of the most difficult situations in their lives with the help and support of each other.
Based on the novel by Carolina Garcia-Aguilera, One Hot Summer sizzles with the ups and downs of three Cuban-American women who always support each other in good times and in bad.
Margarita Silva Santos (Vanessa Marcil), Viviana Suarez (Jacqueline Pinol), and Anabel Aguilera (Tessie Santiago) have been best friends for most of their lives. They live in Miami and meet frequently for lunch to share their ups and downs. Margarita is a high powered attorney who just made partner in her law firm. Viviana goes by the name “Vivian” in her job and resists her Latina roots. She has lightened her hair and wants to hide her ethnicity. And Anabel is a full time mother.
Careers, Husbands, Lovers and Babies
Margarita’s husband is pressing her to start a family, but with her new position in the firm she is perfectly content to wait a while longer. Her husband is disappointed and continues to press her about trying to get pregnant. Then, when her former lover Luther (Casper Van Dien) returns to town, she is caught in an emotional struggle. While she loves her husband, what she shared with Luther was something special, and now that her husband is pushing her about starting a family, Margarita finds herself drawn to her former love who offers her freedom from her pressures at home.
Viviana has decided that even though she does not have a man in her life she wants to have a baby, so she applies to an adoption agency and is excited when she finds out that a baby girl is available. Unfortunately, the baby is not exactly what she expected.
And Anabel just discovered that her husband had an affair. She cannot get past the thought of him with another woman and decides to file for a divorce.
While Viviana deals with new motherhood and Anabel struggles with her marriage, Margarita too has some tough decisions. And when her mother and husband alter her birth control pills, everything changes. Her life is suddenly thrown into chaos and she has to decide what is most important to her.
A Very Special Friendship
The three women meet regularly and share rituals, such as putting their shared secrets in a “vault,” trusting none of them will ever reveal their confidences. The trio is close - as close as sisters.
This is a fun and intriguing story about three women who must deal with tough situations but know that when things get bad they can count on each other for unconditional love and support.
Part of Lifetime Movie Network’s Best Seller Summer, One Hot Summer is an entertaining film, even if viewers do not agree with some of the decisions the women make.

I was looking forward to this movie but was extremely disappointed. (NO, I
did not read the book). The movie was very slow and boring at times. The
movie did not develop the relationship between Vanessa and Casper. The
movie had too many 'messages'. I am a Lifetime movie geek but this is the
first movie I did not enjoy.
